~ cling to the ideal of peace ~
"Wisdom born of experience should tell us that war is obsolete. There may have been a time when war served as a negative good by preventing the spread and growth of an evil force. If we assume that life is worth living, if we assume that mankind has the right to survive, then we must find an alternative to war." ~ Martin Luther King, Jr . . . . .

"It may be that when we no longer know what to do, we have come to our real work, and that when we no longer know which way to go, we have begun our real journey. The mind that is not baffled is not employed. The impeded stream is the one that sings." --Wendell Berry . . . . . . . . .

"Brave people take a risk with the stranger. Brave people offer up their hearts, again, after they've pieced together the fragments of a broken heart. Brave people don't let themselves off the hook when something has gone wrong inside of them. He is not merely gracious; he is available. He does not observe human pain from a distance; he gets up to his elbows in it. He can wait with you while you try to make words. There is a deep, open place in his heart where others can come and go. He does not have to attach himself to every person who passes through this open heart of his, however; he can love them at the moment and let them go on." -- Daniel Homan

bio

I was a queer unschooled girlmom who grew up to be a polyamorous Hellenic Neo-Pagan. I homeschool my kids classically (ie, with Latin) while working from home in a tribal business (a la Daniel Quinn's Beyond Civilization).

I have three little kids (born in 00, 03 and 05), and my partner, a slam poet with several published works, has two. His eleven-year-old lives with him a block away, and his grown son and wife live a block in the other direction.

I am striving towards a sustainable lifestyle, dreaming up a passive solar, cordwood home out on our acreage or perhaps a guerilla garden and a solar retrofit on our old house here in our little city.

Message-board-wise, I dislike gossip, intolerance, and drama; and I love debate, open-mindedness and people who correct my grammar.

Outside of the internet, I like work parties, protests, nature walks, unconditional love, hanging out at the library and playing Dungeons & Dragons; and I dislike drugs and alcohol, video games, inflexibility, cooking and shopping.
